According to venture capital firm Accel, the United Kingdom has the highest number of generative AI (GenAI) startups in Europe and Israel, with 30% of the 221 analyzed startups founded in the UK. France led in funding, with $2.29 billion raised in GenAI companies. The study also revealed that GenAI startups globally raised over $25 billion in 2023, with expectations to reach $45 billion in 2024. Accel noted that a quarter of the founders have worked at key tech companies like Alphabet, Apple, Amazon, DeepMind, Meta, or Microsoft, while a significant percentage has academic backgrounds from universities like University of Cambridge and Oxford University.
