This ruling follows a Freedom of Information request from tax adviser Tom Elsbury, who identified patterns suggesting AI involvement. Although HMRC initially resisted disclosing this information, citing potential fraud risks, the tribunal emphasized the public's right to transparency, highlighting the importance of trust in the tax system. HMRC is required to comply by September 18, 2025.
