Ukraine Peace Summit Communique: Russian-Ukrainian War Causing Severe Hardships But Peace Requires All Parties' Involvement

Reported 8 months ago

On June 16, 2024, the official communique of the Ukraine Peace Summit held in Switzerland was published, acknowledging the 'massive human suffering and destruction' caused by Russia's war in Ukraine and emphasizing the need for the participation of all relevant parties to achieve a ceasefire and peace. While over 90 countries had representatives at the meeting, not all attended countries signed the communique, such as Saudi Arabia and India, with a total of 80 countries signing the joint communique. The document includes calls for the safe operation of Ukraine's nuclear facilities, the maintenance of safe maritime routes in the Azov and Black Seas to ensure global food security, and the exchange and release of all prisoners of war and unlawfully detained Ukrainian citizens. The communique highlights the necessity for Russia's involvement in peace negotiations to end the conflict and sets the groundwork for future peace talks.
