As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to extend his tax policies, those earning $450,000 or more annually will benefit the most, as they fall within the top 5% of U.S. earners and could see significant tax cuts. On the contrary, middle-income households (earning between $65,000 and $116,000) will receive only modest relief, if any, highlighting the criticism that Trump's tax plan favors the wealthy while potentially increasing economic disparity. The continuation of these tax breaks could cost the U.S. government approximately $5 trillion over the next decade, raising concerns about growing income inequality.
