The Yiguoding National Historic Site in Wintershan Township, Yilan has been undeveloped since its public announcement, leaving it abandoned without basic facilities like water, electricity, toilets, and proper lighting, relying only on an annual subsidy from the Ministry of Culture for maintenance. Local concerns are rising as the site has been neglected for 6 years, with fears that it may become a hotspot for public safety issues if not addressed. Both local and central governments are yet to reach a consensus on expanding the site's boundaries to include privately owned lands where significant cultural artifacts have been found, a move that could facilitate resource allocation for development.
