At 6:06 am on July 2, 2024, police officers at a precinct in Taipei handling a Thai woman's case discovered her true gender when her friend brought her passport to the station, revealing the gender marker as 'male'. The woman caused a scene at a CHARLES&KEITH store for unknown reasons, leading to her being sent to a hospital for treatment. The incident, involving erratic behavior and unconfirmed identity, sparked confusion and speculation, especially after a photo of the woman restrained on a hospital bed circulated online. Police, hindered by language barriers and lack of identification, were surprised by the revelation. Despite the lack of formal charges, the woman, legally in Taiwan, was free to leave the hospital upon discharge.
