Italian bank UniCredit is attempting to secure EU antitrust approval for its acquisition of Banco BPM by offering concessions, as indicated in a recent filing with the European Commission. The EU may seek input from other banks and customers before making a decision, which is expected by June 19. UniCredit's CEO has also stated that the deal will not proceed unless the Italian government alters its imposed conditions, which the bank has legally contested.
