Unimart Enterprise acquired 80% of Yahoo Taiwan's e-commerce shares on July 17, 2024, investing a total of 1 billion US dollars, approximately 32.5 billion New Taiwan dollars, to boost its e-commerce business. The Anti-Monopoly Commission approved the merger, stating that the combination would bring greater economic benefits than competitive disadvantages. Unimart aims to combine existing resources and physical retail outlets to create a global e-commerce platform, utilizing Yahoo's brand to enhance Taiwan's e-commerce landscape and consumer experience.
