The Taiwan grassroots Dentist Association stated that around 2.4 billion Taiwanese taxpayers' money was used by the Ministry of Health and Welfare to send 428 foreign trained dental graduates to intern at medical centers in the country, resulting in unlicensed dentists exploiting the health insurance system for profits. The association condemned the ministry for introducing more foreign-trained dental students through the 'Rural Enhancement Program,' increasing the likelihood of such fraudulent activities. They called for the ministry to stop the program to prevent further harm to Taiwan's dental healthcare quality.
