In a TikTok video, a person captured an unmanned pickup store where the door panels opened in a row from top to bottom on the outside, prompting laughter from viewers who joked about buying too many packages. The operator explained that it was staff stocking shelves and the system opening empty containers. With the rise of unmanned pickup stores, this particular operator has over 25% of unmanned store locations. Consumers access their packages by checking in at a kiosk, entering their phone number and pickup code, paying, and then a container is unlocked for their pickup. There are concerns about the system malfunctioning, but the operator clarified the process. As the trend of unmanned stores increases in Taiwan, with around 500 such stores, the operator will evaluate expansion based on consumer demand. The convenience of self-service and acceptance of this new consumption pattern by the public needs to be considered as unmanned stores become more common.
