Unsolved Truth of Baolin Tea Room Poisoning Case as TFDA Plans to Introduce New Food Reporting System in July

The truth behind the Baolin Tea Room poisoning case that occurred in March where 33 people were found to be poisoned with bonkolac acid, resulting in 6 deaths, remains unknown as investigation continues. The Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) is planning to include bonkolac acid in their inspection items starting June, and is working on optimizing the handling procedures for food poisoning incidents. The TFDA recently discussed with local health authorities to consolidate existing documents and develop new guidelines for reporting and handling food poisoning cases, which are set to be announced next month.
