Unstable and Sweltering Weather across Taiwan with High Chance of Rainfall in One Region Continuing until Saturday

Reported 11 months ago

As warm air lingers due to a stalled stationary front, temperatures remain sweltering on June 12 with potential afternoon convection in various regions leading to landslides and falling rocks in mountainous areas, while the southwest coast of Taiwan experiences sporadic showers and even thunderstorms. The stationary front lingering over the northern Taiwan Sea may persist until Saturday. Meteorologist Wu Derong notes that the warm air ahead of the front has been affecting Taiwan for the past 4 to 5 days, resulting in scorching temperatures exceeding 36 degrees in Taipei and Taitung. The southwest winds contribute to rainfall concentrated in the south, with almost rainfalls from Miaoli southward and relative stability in the north. Wu predicts continued high temperatures and sporadic thunderstorms over the next few days, particularly in the southwest region, cautioning residents about potential landslides, falling rocks, and debris flows.
