Taiwan experiences its plum rain season in May and June every year. However, former director of the Central Weather Bureau, Cheng Mingdian, pointed out on Facebook that this year's plum rain season shows unusual characteristics with low rainfall, despite the stall front being close to Taiwan. He mentioned that the weather pattern is abnormal, with the South Asian anticyclone still located in the northern part of the Indochinese Peninsula and the stalled front near Taiwan, indicating that the plum rain season has not ended yet. Cheng further noted that a large cloud-free area extending eastward from the Indochinese Peninsula has inhibited convective cloud development, leading to less rainfall. The Meteorological Bureau forecasts daytime temperatures reaching 32 to 34 degrees Celsius across Taiwan, with certain areas in the Huatung Longitudinal Valley experiencing temperatures exceeding 36 degrees due to the descending effect of the southwest wind, maintaining the hot and humid weather in various regions.
