According to data from the Health Promotion Administration, Taiwanese people have a low intake of fruits and vegetables, with less than 20% meeting the daily vegetable intake guideline and only 5.9% meeting the fruit intake guideline. Most people tend to consume fruits and vegetables during lunch and dinner, neglecting them at breakfast. Nutritionist suggests that having more fruits and vegetables for breakfast can improve metabolism and blood sugar control. The most favored breakfast combinations in Taiwan, such as bread, sandwiches, and egg pancakes with soy milk, coffee, or milk, may lead to health risks like obesity. To enhance breakfast nutrition, the nutritionist recommends increasing fiber intake, choosing nutrient-dense unprocessed foods, and favoring low glycemic index foods.
