Upstream Supply Chain Inventory Replenishment Demand Increases, Research Shows: Global Q3 Server Shipments up by 5%

Reported 12 months ago

According to TrendForce's latest report, despite the overall environment being affected by AI budget squeezing this year, leading to general server growth falling short of expectations, there has been increased procurement activity by OEMs and CSPs for components like Baseboard Management Controllers (BMCs) and new CPUs due to the introduction of new server platforms, resulting in a seasonal increase in server shipments in the second and third quarters. The demand for servers is expected to continue to grow from the second quarter to the third quarter, with Enterprise OEMs such as Dell, HPE, and Lenovo significantly driving shipments. Not only is the AI server order demand strong, but recent delays in projects due to the pandemic and the surge in storage server demand driven by AI are boosting second-quarter performance, with momentum extending into the third quarter, forecasting a quarter-on-quarter growth of about 4-5% in the third quarter.
