Taiwan's 3G network is officially shutting down today, with major telecom companies Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, and Far EasTone Telecom all announcing the closure of 3G networks. Users without 4G Voice over LTE (VoLTE) support will face the inability to make calls. Approximately 530,000 users will be affected by the shutdown, and it is estimated to save over 2.8 billion kWh of electricity annually. The move is in response to energy-saving initiatives and is expected to improve network stability and quality with the shift to 5G services.
