The U.S. government has committed to a loan of up to $7.54 billion for Stellantis and Samsung SDI's joint venture to build two electric vehicle battery plants in Kokomo, Indiana, expected to create at least 2,800 jobs. The project aims to enhance battery production for the North American EV market and reduce dependency on foreign supplies. While the loan must still be finalized, it reflects the government’s intention to support domestic manufacturing amid changes in administration and leadership challenges at Stellantis.
