Reported 7 months ago

According to NHK, the Japanese government is considering imposing sanctions on Chinese companies assisting Russia in its attack on Ukraine, while the US plans to expand sanctions on Chinese companies selling semiconductor chips to Russia. Japan will target enterprises reportedly providing assistance materials for Russia in a new round of sanctions, including Chinese companies suspected of aiding the conflict and exporting goods to Japan. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida intends to unveil the measures at the G7 summit on Thursday (6/13), while the US will announce new export control measures at the summit in Italy, likely impacting entities significantly to raise the cost of Russia's war efforts. The US has previously accused China of indirectly aiding the conflict through provisions of drone, missile technology, and components to Russia, with sanctions imposed on 20 companies in China and Hong Kong.
