US appeals court blocks grant program for Black women-owned businesses

Reported 4 months ago

A U.S. appeals court has blocked the Fearless Fund's grant program for Black women-owned businesses, siding with an anti-affirmative action group's discrimination lawsuit against the program. The court ruled in favor of the group, led by conservative activist Edward Blum, alleging that the program violated a federal law prohibiting racial bias in private contracts. The program, which aimed to provide grants and resources to small businesses owned by Black women, was put on hold following the court's decision, despite Fearless Fund arguing for its constitutional right to support Black women in the economy through charity.
