US Appeals Court to hear net neutrality legal challenges

Reported 6 months ago

The U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals will hear industry legal challenges to block the Biden administration's reinstatement of net neutrality rules. The rules, set to take effect on July 22, were adopted in 2015 but rescinded under former President Donald Trump. FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel expressed confidence in the commission's legal authority, while industry groups representing AT&T, Comcast, and Verizon requested a halt on the order to seek judicial review. Reinstating net neutrality has been a priority for President Joe Biden, who signed an executive order to encourage FCC to reinstate the rules adopted during the Obama administration.
