The US Commerce Department has finalized nearly $60 million in subsidies for BAE Systems to produce semiconductor chips for F-35 jets and for Rocket Lab to enhance the production of solar cells used in space applications. BAE will receive $35.5 million to expand its New Hampshire plant, while Rocket Lab's SolAero will get $23.9 million to increase solar cell production by 50%. These moves are part of the Biden administration's 'Chips and Science' initiative to strengthen domestic semiconductor manufacturing before the new administration.
