According to the China Times, on June 19, 2024, the US announced arms sales to Taiwan, including $360 million worth of spring knives and ALTIUS 600M-V drones, totaling over $11.6 billion. Retired General Lu Zhengjie criticized the Indo-Pacific Commander Paparo for treating Taiwan as a pawn for boosting weapon sales, stating that these weapons have limited effectiveness against well-armored forces. Lu suggested that Taiwan's defense strategy needs improvement against drone threats and criticized the focus on US weapon sales that may not enhance Taiwan's military capabilities significantly.
