The United States plans to impose unilateral restrictions on China's access to AI memory chips and related semiconductor manufacturing equipment by as early as next month, aiming to hinder Chinese firms' technological progress in the memory chip sector and escalate the ongoing tech rivalry between the two nations. This move could inhibit sales from key suppliers like Micron Technology, Samsung, and SK Hynix, particularly targeting the high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips critical for artificial intelligence applications.
