US Consumer Inflation Expectations Decline Amid Debt Concerns

In July, U.S. consumers' medium-term inflation expectations fell significantly to 2.3%, the lowest since 2013, while their short- and long-term forecasts remained unchanged. Despite this positive trend in inflation expectations, households are increasingly worried about their ability to keep up with debt payments, particularly among lower-income groups, with reported probabilities of missing payments rising to 13.3%, the highest since early 2020.
