The Pentagon announced on July 3 that the US military base in Aomori Prefecture, Japan will deploy F-35 fighter jets for the first time, with plans to regularly deploy F-15EX fighter jets in Okinawa to enhance air superiority in the Western Pacific and deter potential threats. This deployment aims to replace the current F-16 fighter jets with 48 F-35A jets in the coming years, strengthening deterrence capabilities and maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. The US Air Force is also planning to station 36 F-15EX jets in Okinawa, utilizing their advanced defense capabilities even before full-scale production, alongside rotation of other aircraft like F-22s for regional defense efforts.
