US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell stated that the US is expected to provide $500 million in security assistance to Taiwan in 2025. The House of Representatives has passed a bill approving $16.2 billion in annual military budget for Taiwan to enhance peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea. However, the actual amount of aid is subject to integration with the Senate version. While the House approved the State Department Appropriations Act for the second consecutive year providing $500 million aid to Taiwan, possible military loans of up to $2 billion are also included to strengthen Taiwan's self-defense capabilities. Campbell emphasized the importance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea, but officials cautioned that the final aid package is still uncertain pending Senate review.
