The US State Department imposed new sanctions on multiple entities in Iran on June 27th in an effort to disrupt the financial flows of Tehran authorities and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, aiming to prevent their continued development of nuclear weapons capability. This action follows concerns raised by Secretary of State Blinken regarding Iran's attempts to expand its nuclear program and refusal to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency. The US has also recently sanctioned 50 Iranian entities and individuals involved in forming a 'shadow banking' network to prevent Iran from illegally accessing the international financial system for non-peaceful nuclear projects, weapon development, and support for terrorist organizations.
