On July 5, 2024, Youth Daily reported that the U.S. company Kratos developed the Hypersonic Testbed HTB-1, which completed its maiden flight in mid-June, costing only $15 million to develop over three years. The test demonstrated a top speed of 5 Mach and was successfully tracked by the Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor satellite, enhancing U.S. hypersonic technology testing. Kratos plans to equip HTB-1 with the latest Zeus rocket engine to further improve its performance. The company aims to leverage its low-cost advantage to assist in accelerating hypersonic technology development for the U.S. military.
