US Marine Corps in Japan to Partially Move to Guam by Year End

Reported 8 months ago

According to a report by Kyodo News on June 17, 2024, a portion of the US Marine Corps troops stationed in Okinawa will gradually be relocated to Camp Blaz in Guam starting from the end of this year. Despite this move, over 10,000 Marine Corps troops will remain stationed in Okinawa to continue their crucial role in maintaining regional stability. This relocation plan, agreed upon by the US and Japanese governments in 2012, aims to alleviate the burden on local residents from the frequent flights of military aircraft through a multi-billion dollar operation.
