On May 19, 2024, trucks loaded with humanitarian aid departed from the temporary dock built by the US military to Gaza. Despite calls for a ceasefire in Gaza and the opening of land routes for aid transport, the US insisted on building a temporary floating dock for maritime deliveries, which took 70 days to construct but only lasted 8 days before being destroyed by storms. After 2 weeks, US officials announced on June 8th that the dock had been repaired and rushed 492 tons of aid to Gaza. This logistical challenge comes amidst the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in the region.
