On June 14, 2024, the United States State Department hinted at further actions after the Commerce Department imposed new sanctions on over 300 entities and individuals, targeting mainland China and other countries supplying material to Russia's defense industry to weaken its forces in Ukraine. Despite active sanctions by Western countries, Ukrainian officials noted that Russian military equipment captured on the battlefield contained chips and technology from Europe and the US, suggesting Russia still evades sanctions with help from Chinese and other foreign entities.
