US Postal Service Sees Potential in Expanding Reverse Logistics Services

Reported 4 months ago

A federal watchdog suggests that the U.S. Postal Service has the potential to capitalize on the reverse logistics market and compete with 3PLs, UPS, and FedEx. While the Postal Service has been increasing its package returns services since 2018, a new white paper points out further growth opportunities due to its extensive retail and transportation network. The agency could potentially transform post offices into retail hubs for returns services and facilitate returns of hazardous materials. However, challenges include greater costs and competition from established carriers and start-ups.
