The first debate of the 2024 US presidential election is set for 9 am tomorrow Taiwan time, with the latest national poll showing 78-year-old Trump leading with 48% support, 4% ahead of 81-year-old Biden. The New York Times and Siena College surveyed 1,226 US adults from June 20 to 25, reporting Trump at 48% and Biden at 44%. Adding third-party candidate Robert Kennedy Jr., Trump leads with 40% against Biden's 37% and Kennedy's 7%. Concerns over Biden's age persist, with 70% feeling he is too old for the presidency, while only 40% feel the same about Trump. Economic issues led by 23%, immigration by 17%, and abortion by 10% are top concerns for voters, with 50% believing Trump is better suited to handle them compared to 40% for Biden. Regarding the anticipated debate, 77% of potential voters intend to watch, with 59% expecting Trump to perform well, and 48% holding the same expectations for Biden.
