US Representative Yu Da-lian was involved in a scandal of extravagant spending using public funds, with allegations of replacing official residence furniture and even purchasing personal items like toilet paper on public expenses, totaling around 8 million NTD. Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung responded to the controversy, stating that only about 2.5 million NTD was spent after deducting some hardware equipment, and there will be no suspension of Yu Da-lian for investigation. Lin emphasized that all procurement and expenses were handled following proper procedures, with discrepancies clarified, and he ensured support for the embassy's work environment improvement and unity among staff.
