The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has found nine additional incidents involving Alphabet's Waymo self-driving vehicles that raised concerns about their performance, following an initial investigation into 22 reports of potential traffic safety law violations and unexpected behavior. The incidents included collisions with visible objects, disobeying traffic safety rules, and collisions with parked vehicles. NHTSA has requested Waymo to provide answers and video footage for these incidents by June 11, expressing concerns about the risk of crashes and injuries. This investigation is part of NHTSA's scrutiny into self-driving vehicle performance, which could potentially lead to a recall if safety risks are identified.
