US Secretary of State Blinken arrived in Cairo on June 10 and met with Egyptian President Sisi to discuss the Gaza ceasefire agreement before heading to the next destination in the Middle East. Despite urging all parties to work together to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, Hamas, the organization that triggered the conflict, directly rebuked him, stating that the ceasefire proposal favored Israel and hindered peace negotiations. Blinken emphasized the importance of Hamas accepting the ceasefire agreement and called on other countries to pressurize Hamas to agree. He also revealed that the US had accepted the three-stage ceasefire and prisoner exchange proposed by President Biden in late May. Efforts are being made to ensure humanitarian aid continues to enter Gaza, with Egypt's President Sisi stressing the importance of this during his meeting with Blinken.
