The plane, suspected to have engine failure, attempted an emergency landing in a yard shortly after takeoff but hit a tree and a truck before stopping. Residents rushed to assist in rescuing the 4 passengers on board to prevent further casualties. The investigation revealed the plane, a Beechcraft 35 manufactured in 1969, encountered engine trouble 15 minutes post-takeoff from Centennial Airport, aiming for Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport.
