U.S. Steel Corp and Nippon Steel have obtained all regulatory approvals outside of the U.S. for their $14.9 billion merger. The companies still need approval in the U.S., amidst opposition from President Joe Biden and the United Steelworkers union over fears of job losses. Nippon Steel has pledged to honor agreements with the union and move its U.S. headquarters to Pittsburgh. The deal is expected to be finalized in the second half of the year after receiving approvals from various countries.
