US Supreme Court Grants Trump Exemption to Intervene in Election Affairs

Reported 12 months ago

On July 1, 2024, the US Supreme Court ruled that former President Donald Trump has full immunity for any official actions taken during his term to reverse his unsuccessful 2020 re-election bid, but unofficial actions do not have immunity. The decision on when Trump can be prosecuted has been handed over to lower courts. The 6-3 vote almost guarantees that Trump will not face trial before the November 5 election. The court's ruling is ideologically divided, with the conservative majority and three liberal minority justices in disagreement.
