The United States' measures to suppress China's artificial intelligence technology have escalated, aiming to block funding sources. The US Treasury announced a draft on June 21 to restrict or prohibit US funding for China's advanced technologies such as AI, semiconductors, and quantum computing to safeguard national security. The proposed regulations aim to regulate US investments in semiconductors, microelectronics, quantum computing, and AI, designating mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau as 'countries of concern.' Despite the US government's comprehensive crackdown on technology, Chinese research institutions continue to be recognized by the international scientific community, as Nature Index Research Leaders 2024 shows seven Chinese institutions in the top ten, with the Chinese Academy of Sciences ranking first.
