In an effort to curb China's technological advancements, the US revealed a new draft limiting American individuals and businesses from investing in Chinese industries such as semiconductors, AI, and quantum computing. Following this, ChatGPT developer OpenAI announced the suspension of application programming interface (API) services to China starting in July, to prevent Chinese companies from using ChatGPT to develop AI products. During the Summer Davos Forum in China, Premier Li Keqiang emphasized energy conservation, green power supply, and the importance of international cooperation in fields like electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar panels. As the US tightens restrictions, President Xi Jinping vows to increase R&D efforts in semiconductors, machine tools, advanced materials, basic software, and scientific instruments to maintain control over technology and initiative.
