US WikiLeaks Case Nears End as Assange Admits Guilt in Exchange for Freedom

Reported about 1 year ago

Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, has admitted to violating U.S. espionage laws as part of a plea deal with the U.S. Department of Justice. In exchange, Assange is expected to be sentenced to 62 months in prison, equivalent to the time served in the UK, and he has left the Belmarsh Prison in the UK after being detained for 5 years. WikiLeaks announced Assange's regained freedom as a result of a global movement spanning grassroots organizers, press freedom activists, legislators, political leaders, and even the United Nations. Assange's wife expressed gratitude for the continuous support, and various countries, including Australia and Germany, have advocated for Assange's fair treatment.
