Vanguard to Charge Account-Closure Fee, Exempt for Wealthy Clients

Reported 8 months ago

Vanguard, known for low-cost investing options, will introduce a $100 processing fee for closing brokerage accounts starting July 1, waived for customers with at least $5 million in assets. The move has raised concerns among some clients, feeling Vanguard is moving away from its mission. These new fees are part of a series of charges including fees for broker-assisted trades, processing physical share certificates, class-action settlements, dividend payments, and removal of security restrictions.
