U.S. federal regulators have approved Venture Global LNG's request to raise the export capacity at its Plaquemines LNG plant in Louisiana from 24 million to 27.2 million metric tons per year. This increase will enhance the company's ability to boost LNG exports by approximately 13%, reinforcing the U.S.'s position as the world’s largest LNG exporter. Though the expansion may have adverse environmental impacts, regulators deemed them acceptable and aligned with public interest. Venture Global aims to optimize profits through strategic spot sales while beginning full operations for long-term customers by 2026.
