Vermont State Representative Caught on Camera Pouring Water into Colleague's Bag Apologizes After Being Exposed

Reported 11 months ago

A Democratic state representative in Vermont discovered that her bag had been continuously getting wet since January, so she secretly installed surveillance cameras to catch the culprit, only to find out it was her Republican colleague in the state house. Mary Morrissey publicly apologized to her Democratic colleague Jim Carroll at the council meeting, expressing shame for her disrespectful behavior and stating she will work to repair their relationship. The incident dates back to January when Carroll noticed his bag hanging in the State House corridor getting wet almost every week. After catching Morrissey pouring water into her own bag on April 23 and 26, Carroll presented the evidence to Speaker Jill Krowinski, ultimately leading to Morrissey's apology. Both representatives are from Bennington, a city of about 15,000 people in southwestern Vermont.
