President Lai Ching-te announced the establishment of the National Climate Change Commission, with Tong Tzuyien, Chairman of Wistron, as Vice Convener. Tong emphasized the importance of energy options benefiting Taiwan, especially in reducing carbon emissions and ensuring stable power supply to address issues like global warming. He expressed the need for Taiwan to prioritize reducing carbon emissions, maintain power supply stability, control costs, and be recognized internationally as using relatively clean energy through proper energy strategies. Tong will exchange views with the President after joining the committee to discuss the most suitable energy strategy for Taiwan, as part of the government's efforts for national development and strategic planning.
