VietJet, Vietnam's largest private airline, is set to take delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft on Sunday, more than nine years after placing its order. This delivery comes amidst ongoing trade negotiations between Vietnam and the U.S. aimed at reducing tariffs. Initially signed in 2016 for 100 jets, the order faced several delays due to two fatal crashes and the pandemic. The handover event will take place in Seattle, coinciding with the upcoming U.N. General Assembly in New York where Vietnam's president will be attending.
