A Virgin Australia Airlines Boeing 737 aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Invercargill Airport in New Zealand after taking off from Queenstown Airport due to an engine fire possibly caused by a bird strike. Witness accounts described seeing flames coming out of the engine mid-air. The flight, which had 67 passengers and 6 crew members, landed safely and all occupants were evacuated without reported injuries. Emergency services were on the scene to assist upon landing.
