A Virgin Australia Airlines Boeing 737-800 flight VA148 from New Zealand to Australia reportedly suffered a bird strike causing one engine to catch fire emitting flames, resulting in an emergency landing at Invercargill Airport in Queenstown. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported among the 67 passengers and 6 crew members on board. The passengers were accommodated overnight in Invercargill before being arranged for a new flight to Melbourne the next morning.
