Volkswagen and its Chinese partner SAIC Motor have announced the sale of a factory in Xinjiang, China, due to human rights criticisms. Despite this, they will extend their automaking joint venture until 2040 and focus more on electric vehicles, planning to launch 18 new models, including eight EVs, by 2030. The Xinjiang plant, which had ceased vehicle production and now provides inspections, will be sold while preserving the jobs of its employees.
